Bird Series: The Ecology of Heather Farm Pond Birds

Thursday, May 24, 2018 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm , , , , , , , ,

Our friends, The Gardens at Heather Farm, a nonprofit educational garden in Walnut Creek, will be offering a series of workshops focused on Heather Farm Pond Birds. And we at Lindsay thought some of our bird-loving friends may want to attend!

Presenters of the series, including Lindsay Wildlife, will share on a range of topics including sketching, journaling, bird ecology, conservation, and bird rehabilitation. Each class will be hosted at The Gardens and will feature different guest instructors. Whether you’re already an avid bird-watcher or a novice just getting started, this series will offer insight and instruction for all levels.

In Lindsay’s workshop on May 24th, we will teach about the rehabilitation process that goes on behind the scenes. In later classes, conservationists from Mt. Diablo Audubon Society and California Bluebird Recovery Program will share tips on how to create habitats that invite birds to nest. Participants of the series will also be trained to participate in citizen science projects aimed towards monitoring trends in bird populations.

In addition to appealing to adult bird enthusiasts, this series is also designed to inspire young birders, encourage a love of nature and enlighten a new generation with the information needed to understand and protect our environment. With that goal in mind, The Gardens is offering classes in this series free of charge to students interested in volunteering their time, both during and after the training.

When: 4:30 p.m. on Thursdays: 5/17, 5/24, and 6/7. The workshop for 6/21 will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Cost: $100 Public/$90 Members of The Gardens at Heather Farm. A single class is $25 each. Student Volunteers: Five-Class Series, FREE with approved application.
