Scout tours
These tours are recommended to meet badge requirements and are led by the museum’s youth volunteers. Tours include
an activity, an encounter with a live animal and special, guided tour of the exhibit hall. Please check-in at the museum admission desk 15 minutes prior to your tour time.
Tours are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Be sure to register early, as our tour dates fill up fast.

Scout tour days, times and prices

Wednesday-Friday: 3:45 pm
Saturday & Sunday: 11:00 am
Fee $6 per person
Payment is due at check-in.
Minimum group size: 10 (including adults)
Maximum group size: 20 (including adults)
Length: All tours are 50 minutes in length


Scout tour choices:
What is Wild?
Ages 6 - 8
Compare wild and domestic animals. Why do some animals make good pets
and some belong in the wild.

    Poisonous or Not?
Ages 6 - 8
Learn about poisonous plants and animals and what to do when you encounter them.
    Vanishing Species
Ages 8 - 12
Find out how you can help conserve rare, threatened and endangered California animals and their habitats.

Registration policies

Tours are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Four-week advance reservation and credit card information are required to reserve your tour. Tour payment will be due upon tour arrival. Acknowledgements of reservation will be mailed to the Scout Leader. Be sure to include your scout group type (Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Cadette, Tiger, Cub, Webelo, etc.)

Cancellation policy

There will be a $10 service fee for any date changes or cancellations up to two weeks prior to the tour date. Changes made less than two weeks prior to the tour will be charged a $25 service fee. Missed tours will be charged a $50 fee to the credit card on file.

Additional information
Scout leaders are responsible for ordering any badges earned through these programs from their local scout council.
