Gifts to Lindsay Wildlife Museum are used to provide care and treatment to our animal ambassadors and hospital patients, to employ our veterinary staff and educators, and maintain our museum exhibits and operations.

Gifts of Securities

Important information about receiving 2014 tax credit for your donations to Lindsay Wildlife Museum:

Giving by check:

The IRS has stated that a charitable gift made by check is complete at the time the check is delivered or mailed, and the postmark is evidence of the gift date.

Gifts delivered by overnight courier, e.g., Federal Express, UPS, etc., are deemed to have been made when they are delivered.

In order for your donation to Lindsay Wildlife Museum to be considered a 2014 tax-deductible charitable donation, it must be received or postmarked on/before December 31, 2014.

Giving by credit card:

The IRS has stated that a gift by credit card is deemed to be made on the day the card is CHARGED against the donor's account (IRS Rev. Rul. 78-38). In order for your credit card donation to Lindsay Wildlife Museum to be considered a 2014 tax-deductible charitable donation, it must be successfully CHARGED (not simply postmarked) to your credit card account before midnight on December 31, 2014.

Lindsay Wildlife Museum’s online giving system does NOT immediately post a charge against your credit card. Credit card gifts made online or by mail/post, fax and phone will be accepted by our development staff until 4:00 pm Pacific Time on Wednesday, December 31, 2014. Gifts made after this time cannot be guaranteed to be run on December 31 and thus may not be eligible for tax credit.

Gifts of securities:

Gifts of securities are credited on the day they are received at Lindsay Wildlife Museum. If they are sent through US mail with a stock power in a separate envelope, the last date that the stock certificate or stock power is postmarked is the date of gift. Stock gifts transferred to a brokerage house are credited the day received in our account. As transfers of securities often take several days to accomplish, please begin the transfer as early as possible before the end of the year in order to insure deductibility for the 2014 tax-year.
